I am 47 with a family and love the outdoors and animals.
I know from personal experience that sometimes we all need a safe, non-judgmental place to talk, simply because we are human and life can be tough. I am hugely passionate about supporting people to become happy and comfortable with who they are so that they can better cope with whatever comes their way.
I have a BSc (hons) degree, A PGCE, A Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology and an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling.
I am also a registered, accredited member of The National Counselling Society. This is one of the organisations that set the ethical standards for our work and members must have the correct qualifications.
I also hold a current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance for working with children in Devon.
As a counsellor I have experience of working with adults at The Dartmoor Center for Counselling and Psychotherapy in Newton Abbot and with children in schools (usually play based therapy). My background, previous to this, was working with children and families in educational settings in a variety of roles.
It is generally a requirement that counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have completed many hours of their own personal therapy. As a client I have experienced growth through talk therapy as well as animal assisted therapy and the use of creative interventions. I am comfortable to use different elements of all of these as a therapist, or simply to talk with you, what is important is that it is your choice.
